KidzCare Babysitter

Description:

The Malta Branch is seeking an outgoing Babysitter for the KidzCare department weekday evenings. Primary responsibilities will be to provide direct supervision of a group of children in KidzCare and create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes all. KidzCare staff also facilitates socialization, participation, and interaction of all children through a fun and developmentally appropriate activities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Program Director at Saratoga Regional YMCA oversees the childcare programs, such as school age, preschool, camps, kidzcare and youth programs and/or other programs and designs practices, processes, and procedures for strong program and project management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilitates socialization, participation and interaction of all children through active involvement in safe, fun and
    developmentally appropriate activities; provides adaptations based on individual needs and utilizes positive
    behavior guidance techniques with children
  • Maintains an organized, healthy and safe environment by returning all supplies and equipment to its
    appropriate place; keeping toys, games and other supplies clean and organized for easy access. Reports damaged equipment
  • Maintains required program records
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary
  • Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, completes related reports as required.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps them connect with each other and the Y. Identifies potential volunteers
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and our three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility
  • Ability to articulate and model the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
  • Attends all staff meetings and in-service training
  • Wear required and approved uniform items at all time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 16 years old; Must be able to furnish working papers
  • Prior childcare experience with children under age 13 years old preferred.
  • Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
