Youth Sports Coach

Provides support, instruction and motivation for youth sports participants. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.


- Leads implementation of programming, instruction and supervision of all practices. Develops participants’ skill and promote their involvement as part of a team.

- Ensures the safety and well-being of each child under their supervision and maintains a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants.
- Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
- Conveys information on youth programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
- Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants, as well as proactively communicating areas of concern.
- Mentors and leads Youth Sports Coach 1. Assists with onboarding and training of new staff members.
- Supports Director with administrative duties, as assigned.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Enforces and leads all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, completes related reports as required.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps them connect with each other and the Y. Identifies potential volunteers. Trains and supervises program volunteers as assigned.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members and program participants; helps them connect with each other and the Y. Identifies potential volunteers.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and our three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
- Ability to articulate and model the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
- Wear required and approved uniform items at all time.
- Performs other duties as assigned.


- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- 2+ years sports instruction experience.
- Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications.
