Before and After School Site Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Assists in planning and implementation of daily program activities and curriculum for assigned site location. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA
policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops, manages and implements weekly lessons and activities, and ensures active participation in
  • Adheres to YMCA and/or OCFS guidelines for proper verbal interaction, proper learn and play techniques, as
    well as age appropriate redirection as a form of discipline.
  • Supports behavioral management plans, and maintains confidentiality, sensitivity and patience with the children
    and parents through appropriate verbal interactions.
  • Completes accurate and timely records of attendance, progress and behavioral reports, as assigned.
  • Supports and role models the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards while promoting child
    participation in activities and discussions about healthy living.
  • Mentors and leads Site Assistants. Assists with onboarding and training of new staff members.
  • Supports School Age Director/Assistant Director with administrative duties, as assigned.
  • Enforces and leads all YMCA and/or OCFS policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and
    safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Enforces and leads all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance
    with YMCA policies, procedures, completes related reports as required.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps them connect with each other and the Y. Identifies
    potential volunteers. Trains and supervises class volunteers as assigned.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and our three areas of focus: youth development,
    healthy living, and social responsibility.
  • Ability to articulate and model the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Wear required and approved uniform items at all time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Associate’s Degree in Child Development or a related field; OR School Age Child Care Credential AND 1+ years’
    experience working with children under 13 years old; OR High School Diploma or equivalents AND 2+ years’
    experience working with children under 13 years old.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of OCFS guidelines.
  • Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications.

  • The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
