Battenkill School Age Site Assistant

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Assists in planning and implementation of daily program activities and curriculum for assigned site location.   • Serves as site lead, in absence of Site Supervisor.
  • Assists Site Supervisor in the implementation of daily lessons and activities, and actively participates in
  • Adheres to YMCA/OCFS guidelines for proper verbal interaction, proper learn and play techniques, as well as
    age appropriate redirection as a form of discipline.
  • Supports behavioral management plans, and maintains confidentiality, sensitivity and patience with the children
    and parents through appropriate verbal interactions.
  • Completes accurate and timely records of attendance, progress and behavioral reports, as assigned
  • Supports and role models the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards while promoting child
    participation in activities and discussions about healthy living
  • Supports Site Supervisor with administrative duties, as assigned
  • Follows all OCFS and YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety
    Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance
    with YMCA policies, procedures, completes related reports as required
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps them connect with each other and the Y. Identifies
    potential volunteers.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and our three areas of focus: youth development,
    healthy living, and social responsibility
  • Ability to articulate and model the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Wear required and approved uniform items at all time.

  • Minimum age of 17 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; OR 1+ years of childcare experience with children under age 13 years old.
  • Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
