Accounting Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

Saratoga Regional YMCA is a mid-major YMCA, with five branches, nearly $15 million in revenue, and over 28,000 members located in beautiful upstate New York. Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, we are looking for a passionate team member whose knowledge and experience in finance and accounting will play an integral role in helping our association to expand our membership base to 40,000 while becoming one of the most recognizable charities in Saratoga County.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for monitoring general accounting practices, developing and protecting internal accounting controls, cash management, journal entry transactions, maintaining and developing complex spreadsheets from data queries and managing the work of the staff accountant.  In addition, this individual will provide support in the areas of account reconciliations, ledger maintenance, complete audit preparation, track fixed assets and file federal documents under the direction of the CFO.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Reconciles all balance sheet accounts monthly and ensure variances are resolved in a timely manner.
  2. Ensures that appropriate financial controls are established, monitored, and enforced.
  3. Prepares monthly internal financial statements and make available to the CFO for review within the first 5 business days after month end.
  4. Manages the monthly close process and budget to actual variance analysis.
  5. Ensures accurate processing and import of weekly payroll. Assist with various payroll related and HR projects, including but not limited to reconciling payroll to quarterly filings, reconciling gross payroll and benefit GL accounts to payroll software reports, calculating payouts, submitting 401K and FSA data, and ACA reporting.
  6. Calculates and submit reporting requirements and premiums for NYS PFL and SDI quarterly.
  7. Monitors and confirms the financial condition in partnership with CFO by conducting audits and managing third party audits.
  8. Manages the depreciation schedule and ensure that items are appropriately capitalized and depreciated following the SRY capitalization policy.
  9. Maintains and submits incident reports to insurance carrier
  10. Ensures accurate and timely posting of activity from operating software into the accounting software.
  11. Prepares a wide variety of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for the CFO and VPO.
  12. Oversee staff accountant including; training, developing, providing guidance, conducting performance reviews, and assigning projects.
  13. Serves as the system co-administrator for all financial systems to accomplish proper recording and reporting of all operations, transactions, assets and liabilities of SRYMCA for all funds.
  14. Assists operations with various problems and questions including but not limited to researching account postings, assisting with front desk shift closeouts, assisting with gl account setup for new programs, proper setup of programs and within the operating software for accrual accounting recognition, and assisting staff with new program pro-formas.
  15. Oversees the maintenance, protection, and proper destruction of records per legislative requirements and according to to the SRY Record Retention Policy.
  16. Assists with classification of employees and independent contractors, ensure that all vendors have W9 forms on record and all engaged contractors have valid certificates of insurance naming the SRY as additional insured before beginning work.
  17. Assists and cooperate with the requests and needs of the CEO, Finance Committee, Audit Committee, external auditors, and internal audit function when requested to do so by VPO, or CFO.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or equivalent required; MBA, CPA or CMA may be preferred.
  2. Experience with Centerpoint/Redwing preferred.
  3. Previous experience with voluntary/nonprofit organizations strongly preferred.
  4. 5+years of substantive experience in accounting and financial management required.
  5. 3+ years of experience in a supervisory accounting role.
  6. Strong analytical skills with a high degree of expertise in excel.
  7. Knowledge and understanding of general business matters and budget development, financial reporting, cash management, business taxes, banking and debt
    financing instruments required.

POSITION DETAILS:

The Saratoga Regional YMCA’s Marketing and Communications team is looking for a Digital Marketing Specialist who can enhance our brand and build a strong online presence through our website and various digital and social media platforms.  The DMS will report to the Assistant, Director of Marketing and Communications and is responsible for managing the association’s social media and digital strategy on a daily basis.  If you’re a motivated person who is creative, data-driven, has a mobile-first approach, and wants to work in a fun, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment, then we want to hear from you!​

 

JOB DETAILS:

The Digital Marketing Specialist position will be part of a dynamic, creative and strategic marketing and communications team working to drive an exciting growth agenda for the Association while supporting Y values. The SRYMCA MarComm team is looking for a driven, passionate and creative individual who can help lead our association’s digital efforts enabling us to communicate our presence and impact within our community at the next level.

 

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • With the guidance of the Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications, create and execute an organization wide strategy for digital marketing, content promotion and targeted messaging.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent interactive voice for the association.
  • Regularly review and maintain effectiveness of ads.
  • Set analytics benchmarks and goals.
  • Compile and distribute reports on web/email analytics and social media participation.
  • Utilize evaluation of analytics to make appropriate recommendations.
  • On an on-going basis, assess quality of content to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Organize and manage content between multiple digital platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with latest trends and best practices.
  • Assist with the overall development of projects and digital activities strategy including the management and delivery of content via the organization’s webpages, newsletters, social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) and emails.
  • Maintain the company website
  • Ability to convert analytical insights into concepts and recommendations.
  • Work closely with the organization leadership and partners to document stories and successes in project activities in a compelling manner across multiple digital outlets.
  • Verify that all content is approved through proper channels and systems to ensure messaging is consistent with donor messaging.
  • Develop digital content from on-going program activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Marketing, Journalism, or relevant field of study and at least 1-3 years’ professional experience or equivalent combination of training and relevant experience.
  • Complete understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on Photoshop.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics and other social media SEO and data measuring platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to compose narratives write and edit compelling stories and posts.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in developing and implementing social media strategies that advance organizational communication strategies, program visibility and engage new audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of online video, social media, and supporting technologies.

  2. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.
