Outdoor Fitness and Lap Swimming

As all gyms remain closed across New York State, we are excited to begin utilizing our outdoor spaces for some of your favorite Y activities. We will be following all public health guidelines to ensure the safety of our members and staff.  

As we begin piloting these activities at the Saratoga Springs Branch we would like to welcome members from all Saratoga Regional YMCA branches to participate.

The current fitness options that are being offered include:

  • Outdoor fitness Classes such as yoga, Zumba, cycle and more. CLICK HERE for the current schedule

  • The pool has reopened for lane activities such as swimming, walking and individual water exercise, at limited capacity. CLICK HERE to learn more.

We will continue to monitor information from local and state health officials and will adjust scheduling and offerings as conditions change.

MEMBERSHIP AND RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED

An active SRYMCA membership is required to participate in these activities. (All SRY memberships were placed on hold in April and will remain this way until further notice unless you choose to participate in these activities and reactivate your membership.)

REACTIVATE MEMBERSHIP

Advanced Reservations are required to participate in these activities. In an effort to ensure a safe environment and maintain limited capacity, all outdoor fitness classes and pool lap swimming require a reservation using our mobile app or our online schedules page. Reservations open 48 hours before the start of each class and will remain open until 1 hour before class starts or until all spaces are filled. There’s no fee to sign up once you’ve reactivated your membership.

OUTDOOR FITNESS CLASS INFORMATION

  • Find a complete list of classes on our schedules web page
  • Class capacity is limited to up to 35 people, depending on the class
  • Reservations are required for all outdoor fitness classes using the Y Mobile App or our schedule’s web page (no walk-in or on-site reservations at this time)
  • Classes are only offered at the Saratoga Springs branch at this time
  • Classes will take place in one of four zones in the parking lots near the main entrance. Zone locations will be included in the class description when you reserve a spot (zone locations are shown in the diagram above). 
  • Class schedules are subject to change and may be canceled due to poor weather
  • Building access and locker rooms will not be available
  • Members are required to bring their own equipment (yoga mat, water bottle, towel, etc.)
  • Please keep all valuables home or locked in your car while participating
  • Class cancellations will be communicated through our “rained out” text messaging service. These messages are FREE.  CLICK HERE to sign up and be sure to select SS-GROUPEX .

Check In When You Arrive

  • Arrive 15 minutes in advance to check-in
  • Members must sign a one-time membership waiver specific to COVID-19
  • Members must check-in and verify class registration (located outside main building entrance)

Safety and Cleanliness

  • Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes for equipment will be available
  • Face masks must be worn at all times except while exercising
  • Please social distance and keep a safe space between members and staff
  • Staff will disinfect equipment between classes
  • Please exit the exercise area immediately after class ends to eliminate social gatherings 

POOL (LAP LANE ACTIVITY*) INFORMATION

*Lane Activity includes swimming, walking, and individual water exercise.

  • We are following strict social distancing and reduced capacity guidelines
  • Building access is limited to the pool area only, for SRY members that have reserved a lap swimming only
  • Enter the pool area directly through the side entrance (see diagram)
  • In an effort to serve the most members possible at a lowered capacity, we ask that members limit their daily swim time to 30 minutes per day and enter and exit the pool at their reserved times
  • Reservations are required for lap swimming and can be made on our Y mobile app or our schedule’s web page (no walk-in or on-site reservations at this time)
  • Please keep all valuables home or locked in your car while participating
  • Please Note: Locker rooms are not available at this time. Since the reserved lane time per member is limited to 30 minutes, swimmers are encouraged to come dressed and ready to swim. A bathroom is available on the pool deck for members with a reserved swim lane.

  • Members must check-in and confirm lane reservation

Safety and Cleanliness

  • Face masks are not required while swimming, but will be required in common areas and on the pool deck
  • Members are required to rinse off in the shower on the pool deck before entering the pool
  • Lap swimming is limited to one person per lane to meet physical distancing requirements
  • Pool deck seating will be removed to prevent congregating
  • Members must bring all of their own equipment (towel, goggles, water bottle, kickboards, swim fins, pull buoys, paddles, fitness belts, etc.)
  • Members are asked to use our new one-way entrance and exit doors in the pool area
  • Steam Room, Sauna, and Whirlpool will all remain closed
  • All hard surfaces and touch points will be cleaned regularly

Pool Hours

  • Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

(The pool will be closed from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM for cleaning and to serve our youth Summer Care participants.)

  • Saturday: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Sunday: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM

OUTDOOR PERSONAL FITNESS SPACES

There are 12 designated spaces available and one person will be assigned to each space in 1-hour increments. 

The equipment that will be available for use in these spaces includes weight benches, preloaded barbells, kettle bells, dumbbells, medicine balls, battle ropes, rowing machines, and spin bikes. (Please bring your own mat if you require one for your workout.)

  • Reservations are required using the Y Mobile App or our schedule’s web page (no walk-in or on-site reservations at this time)

  • Offered at the Saratoga Springs Branch only at this time.
  • Building access and locker rooms are NOT available.
  • Bathroom facilities have been installed near the perimeter of the parking lot. (no building access)
  • Bring a full water bottle. (no building access)
  • Please keep all valuables home or locked in your car while participating

     

Personal fitness spaces are available by reservation only:

  • Monday - Friday: 6:00 AM - NOON & 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Saturday: 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • Sunday: 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM

  • Please wipe down equipment before and after use
  • Face masks must be worn at all times except while exercising

When you return to the SRY property you will notice some changes. Parking lots have been repurposed to act as group exercise space and the pool area is accessible through a side entrance only. Please  click here to view and print a pdf of the diagram.

Building access is limited to the pool area only, for SRY members that have reserved a swim lane. All other indoor facilities, including restrooms, water fountains, and locker rooms are closed.

If you should need the restroom while visiting the Y we have installed bathroom facilities near the adventure course (see diagram below).
