Aquatics Programs

YMCA swim lessons are more than stroke development. It’s a child centered approach, where children learn to have a life-long love for swimming. The children gain confidence, self-esteem and make new friends while developing listening and social skills.

Children are taught in skill appropriate groups and progress at their own pace.

INFANT SWIM LESSONS

These classes promote aquatic enrichment and readiness while

promoting parental education, safety and fun.

SWIM TEAM

Swim Team is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. Children become a team, as they learn how to be more independent and yet work as a group. Swim team helps teach self reliance and develops attitudes and practices that build character and leadership, all while having fun. 

STINGRAYS SWIM TEAM (6+ years)

A comprehensive, competitive fall/winter swim program. The swim team focuses on developing technical abilities which build self-esteem, team values, and fitness knowledge. Placement in swim groups will be determined by coaches at tryouts.

AQUA AEROBICS

A great low impact, cardiovascular workout that includes body toning exercise. A great way to get in shape while having fun in the the shallow and deep ends of the pool. No swimming skills required.

An easy to follow, calorie-burning fitness class that makes working out in the pool a splash! This fun, up-beat class integrates stretching, body-toning and cardio-conditioning using the resistance of water.

SILVER SPLASH®

A water fitness program utilizing the physical properties of water to increase agility, range of motion and cardiovascular conditioning. No swimming ability is required.  Sliver Splash utilizes shallow water. Registration is required.  Participants can only register for one (1) class PER day.  This class is for members age 55 years and up!

AQUATIC AFTER THERAPY PROGRAM (18+ years)

An aquatic exercise class for individuals who have completed physical therapy and now want to move on to a low impact total body conditioning program. It combines aerobic, stretching and strengthening exercise that offers both comfort and challenge to participants of all fitness levels. Physician’s consent is required.

AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARDING (15+ years)

Become a certified lifeguard and build pride in your leadership skills while enhancing your time management and social skills as well as making new friends. This class will provide a foundation and jump start that will enhance your life.

Reservations are required for Lap Swim

Reservations are made on the SRYMCA.org website under schedules or from the Saratoga Regional YMCA App.

To reserve a lap lane time:

  • An active SRY membership and advanced reservations are required to participate.
  • Reservations open 48 hours before the start of each session/class and will remain open until 1 hour before lap swim time starts or until all spaces are filled.

TWINKLE TOES (4-6 years)
This class is two programs in one. Ballet fundamentals are improved, while establishing tap basics. Tap steps will develop balance and coordination. Creative movement is utilized to foster body awareness. Musical games and listening exercises help to increase rhythm. Min. 4; Max. 10.

Soccer League (3 to 4 years)

This league begins to resemble more of the soccer game that their older siblings or even their parents have come to love. Play time consist of 15-minute skills practice and 30-minute game time.  Games are 5v5 on the field with only the coach on the field to direct them. The children learn how to pass the ball and move up and down the field to score and defend.  The cost for a 7-game season is $60 and it includes T-shirt. Volunteer Parent coaches needed. Soccer League (5 to 7 years)

This league develops into more of a controlled game of passing, shooting and defending. Play time consist of 15-minute skills practice and 30-minute game time.  Games are 6v6 on the field with only the coach on the field to direct them.   The cost for a 7-game season is $60 and it includes T-shirt. T-Ball League (4 to 6 years old) T-Ball League: Developmental league. Each team will meet once week for a 20-minute practice and then play a 3-inning game. Our T-Ball league is designed for beginners who wants to experience youth sports, learn hitting and fielding fundamentals and be included in a supportive team environment. T-shirt and hat included! . Volunteer Parent Coaches needed.

Rookie Baseball League (6 to 8 years old) (Coaches Pitch): Developmental league. Each team will meet once a week for a 20-minute practices and then play a 5-inning game. Our Rookie league is designed for primarily youth ages 6 to 8 years old. This division makes use of a coach-pitch to allow more hittable balls at the plate and more action in the field.  T-shirt and hat included! Volunteer Parent Coaches needed

Teen and Adult Intro to Archery

Teen and Adult Intro to Archery is a 7-week program for teens and adults ages 14 and up designed to teach the fundamentals of archery, range safety, and equipment use. While this class will include games as a fun way to practice archery fundamentals, its focus will be on gaining basic archery skills consistent with the NTS (National Training System) 11 Steps of Shooting developed by US Olympic Archery Head Coach, Kisik Lee. It will include skill drills and basic archery exercises.

Youth Intro to Archery

Youth Intro to Archery is a 7-week program for children ages 8 - 13 designed to teach the fundamentals of archery, range safety, and equipment use. While this class will include basic coaching in bow-handling and accuracy, its focus will be on guided shooting time and games as a fun way to develop a beginner’s appreciation for the sport.

Leadership Club

Today’s teens are tomorrow’s leaders. Leaders Club is a nationally-recognized core YMCA teen program that provides participants with opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, service to others, and social development. Teens (8th through 12th grade) meet on a weekly basis, working closely with their peers and adult advisers on skill and character-building activities, as well as planning and organizing projects with an emphasis on community service, and goal-setting

Beyond the Basics: (10 to 14 years old)

Take your basketball player to the next level! This class provides each player with the skills and mental approach they will need to get a leg up on the competition. Emphasis will be placed on agility, the fundamentals of footwork, balance, lay ups using right and left hand, driving to the basket technics, reading the defense and vertical jumping.

Toddler Sensory Play Group: (18 months - 3 years)

This outdoor class will work on pre-k readiness skills like following simple directions and sharing with others while engaging in fun sensory and messy activities.  We will have a brief circle time with a song, story or activity followed by sensory exploration of things like sand, water, paint and bubbles.  This play group allows for parents and children to meet and connect with other families.

Longshots Archery Club: (10-16 years old)

This program will meet once per week for recreational archers interested in taking their skills to the next level. From beginner to intermediate students, our program introduces archers to the joy of the sport while providing avenues to progress to the exciting level of competition!  Our goal is to equip each participant with the knowledge of range safety, respect of the sport, handling and care of equipment, and proper shooting technique in an environment that fosters focus, improved accuracy, increased self-confidence and team building. Competitions open only to club members will give archers the chance to learn about competition distances, scoring, and competition rules in a low-pressure environment designed to help archers decide if real competition is right for them. Archers should be comfortable shooting at 15 to 18 meters. Equipment will be restricted to barebow recurves under a 30-pound draw weight.

Health & Wellness Programs

Women on Weights Lv.1:
Enjoy learning proper weight-lifting etiquette, technique and routine, while also quickly witnessing an increase in strength and a positive transformation to your body!  Also includes progress tracking via our inBody body composition assessment system!

HIIT Boxing:
"Punch" your ticket into this new 7-week program where you will learn basic boxing skills, hit the punch mitts and heavy bag, and work through a variety of strength, conditioning, and core workouts; all under the guidance of a certified boxing coach. This program is a great way to improve your cardiorespiratory conditioning, build full body strength, burn calories, learn self-defense, and tone the entire body while having fun in a team-oriented environment!

Spartacus Warrior Training:
Our outdoor obstacle course race program returns for the Fall session!  Have you ever wanted to try an obstacle course race?  Do you need a change from your same old routine?  Are you looking for a challenging program to get you to that next fitness level?

Come and try round two of our Spartacus Warrior Training Program.  This boot-camp style program will help take you to the next level in a fun, supportive, yet challenging environment.  We will run this program outside rain or shine (no thunderstorms) because that is how obstacle course races roll!  Embrace the elements.  The session will begin the week of September 13 and end September 4th.

Walk with Ease:
The Saratoga Regional YMCA is proud to continue offering the Arthritis Foundation Walk with Ease Program! Walk with Ease is a six-week group exercise program that can reduce pain and improve overall health. Learn how to walk safely and comfortably, while improving your flexibility, strength, and stamina! If you can be on your feet for 10 minutes without increased pain, you can have success with Walk with Ease.

Choose to Lose (Weight Loss Program):
Everyone needs help from time to time achieving their goals.  Let us help guide you along your wellness journey by joining our Move it and Lose it weight loss program!  This small group, 12-week program offers a holistic approach to weight loss.  It will provide you with personalized workouts, accountability, and weekly discussions on topics like portion control, stress and sleep, time management, and maintaining progress.  This program is designed to help anyone looking to achieve a healthier weight, whether it's a long or short-term goal!

How does the program work?

  • Each week, the Weight Loss coaches will lead a group discussion on a different topic, including setting realistic goals, how to read food labels, and identifying how to create balanced meals.
  • The coaches will conduct pre-and-post assessments using our inBody body composition system to track your progress!  We will track statistics such as body fat %, lean muscle mass, and individual body measurements throughout the 12-week program!

  • Wednesdays: 6:30pm – 7:30pm (Virtual only option)

Teens on Weights:
The Teens on weights program is for members ages 14-18. This program will teach proper form, technique, and the basics of program progression.  They will learn to use dumbbells, barbells, cable stations and other weight training equipment confidently and safely. After completing the course, teens will have the building blocks of exercise programs for whatever fitness path they choose.

Youth Fit Basics:
Participants learn how to identify basic muscle groups and are introduced to age appropriate bodyweight exercises, cardiovascular games, and proper use of other fitness equipment to make exercise fun and build self-confidence. Students will learn the basic building blocks of exercise to carry them into their teen years.

Youth Fit Performance:
Participants learn correct form for exercise and building strength using a variety of equipment such as kettlebells and TRX suspension trainers. Participants will also participate in plyometric and basic drills to increase speed and agility for sport performance. An excellent course for young athletes or any teen looking to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle and get involved with weight training.

Join one of our Youth Boxing courses that will teach kids to learn proper Boxing techniques, combinations and participate in age-appropriate strength and conditioning workouts to develop a solid exercise routine! 

*Must bring your own boxing gloves*

Level 1: participants will learn basics of boxing, proper stance and posture, as well as basic punch and combo movements.

Level 2: Participants learn more advance combinations, including working 1 on 1 with the instructor using the boxing mitts and other techniques.

*Must be able to demonstrate previous boxing experience or have previously taken Level 1 of the course.

  • Tuesdays (Level 1): 5:00pm – 5:45pm
  • Thursdays (Level 2): 5:00pm – 5:45pm
  • Saturdays (Level 1): 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Youth and Teen Strength Training:
An introduction to strength training for our young population.  This course will provide building blocks of strength training to participants, with an age-appropriate introduction to dumbbells, kettlebells and other strength and weight training equipment.  Whether your child is an athlete, or just looking to build healthy habits, this course will provide a solid foundation for exercise!

  • Mondays: 5:00pm – 5:45pm
  • Wednesdays: 5:00pm – 5:45pm
  • Saturdays: 11am – 11:45am
  • Location: Functional Training Area
