New Community Leaders Added to Saratoga Regional YMCA Board of Directors 

Saratoga Springs, NY -- The Saratoga Regional YMCA (SRYMCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of four community leaders to its Board of Directors. Kate Forer, Martin Mbugua, Allison Meyers, and Andrew Rubino were elected to three-year terms at a recent board meeting.

Members of our Board of Directors are responsible for establishing policy and setting strategic direction for the organization, as well as creating opportunities and establishing relationships that advance the YMCA’s mission and cause.

“As one of the largest charities in the area for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y works side-by-side with our neighbors every day to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.” said Rick Schumaker, chair of the board.

“Each new board member brings an impressive wealth of experience that, coupled with a passion for service, will be paramount in helping our Y move our community forward.”

Joining SRYMCA’s Board of Directors are:

  • Kate Foster – Kate is the Senior Pastor for the Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church in Saratoga Springs. Kate most recently comes from North Carolina where she apprenticed herself to an organic farmer for three years, attended church and further discerned a call to ministry. Kate has served church in Connecticut and North Carolina and is a member of the United Church of Christ’s Next Generation Leadership Initiative – a program that equips young clergy to be transformational leaders through exceptional training opportunities. 

  • Martin Mbugua – Martin Mbugua is the Vice President of Communications and Marketing at Skidmore College. He leads the Office of Communications and Marketing in the development and implementation of strategic communications and marketing plans, issues management, media and external relations, internal communication, and brand development.
  • Allison Meyers – After several years working as a Chemical Engineer for a Fortune 500 company, Allison spent much of the last decade caring for her four boys while working part-time for Meyers & Meyers, LLP, her family’s law firm.  In her spare time, she also enjoys exercising at the Wilton Y, spending time with her family on Lake George and writing for the style blog she launched last year, stylefileny.com.

  • Andrew Rubino – Andrew is the Vice President, Sales Manager at Berkshire Bank. He currently manages a team of retail MLO’s throughout New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont where they collaborate with retail and commercial lines of business to increase mortgage production and originating mortgages within the bank’s footprint.

The SRYMCA will welcome new board members as well as honor outgoing board members; Alysa Arnold, Skip Carlson, Denise Polit, Theresa Skaine, and Timothy Provost (Board of Trustees) on October 3, 2019 at its inaugural Impact Celebration at the Saratoga Hilton.
