Saratoga Regional YMCA Breaks Ground on $8 Million Capital Project in Glens Falls
Renovation will bring modern fitness spaces, dedicated youth areas, and expanded accessibility to a Y deeply rooted in the Glens Falls community.
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. — Wednesday, June 18, 2026 — The Saratoga Regional YMCA today celebrated the official groundbreaking of a major capital renovation project for the Glens Falls Branch, marking the start of construction on improvements designed to modernize the organization's facility and meet the evolving needs of the community it serves.
The ceremony, held at 600 Glen St, brought together Y staff, board members, local public officials, donors, and community partners to mark the beginning of a project years in the making. The renovation promises modern fitness spaces, dedicated youth areas, versatile community rooms, and enhanced accessibility features.
"This isn't just the start of construction. This is the beginning of intentional growth—the kind that doesn't happen all at once, but begins quietly, with listening. Listening to our members, our staff, our families, our community. Asking: how do we serve better? How do we create spaces where every person feels seen, supported, and valued? Those questions became seeds. And over time, with care and shared vision, those seeds began to take root," said Lauren Cygan, Executive Director of the Glens Falls YMCA.
"Our priority is—and will always be—for this YMCA to remain local. To remain deeply connected to the Glens Falls community it serves. To feel like your Y. A place that reflects the values, the needs, and the spirit of this community," said Allison D'Antonio, CEO of the Saratoga Regional YMCA.
"This is not about bringing something new in from the outside. It's about building something stronger from within—together."
The capital project carries an $8 million price tag, and the organization will continue raising funds throughout the project. Every gift, no matter the size, helps ensure the Y remains a welcoming space for generations to come.
Gratitude to Donors The Saratoga Regional YMCA is especially grateful to its lead donors: The Dake Family, Stewarts Shops, and The Wright Family Foundation. Their extraordinary support and belief in this vision have helped turn this project from an idea into reality.
The organization is also grateful to the many major partners who have helped carry this effort forward including The Charles R. Wood Foundation, Bill and Lisa Powers, Adirondack Trust Company and Amsure, Arrow Bank, Della Auto Group, The Glens Falls Foundation, Hudson River Community Credit Union, The Bernstein Family, and the Fredette Family Foundation.
