Our Y gymnastics programing is high energy fun with quality skill instruction.

Classes are offered for children ages 2 - adult. 

All classes are taught in a fun, safe environment using progressive skill instruction on our high-quality gymnastics equipment. Every class emphasizes balance, strength and coordination all while receiving positive encouragement from our gymnastics instructors!

The Wilton YMCA Gymnastics Center is a 7,500 square foot, fully air-conditioned Gymnastics Facility. 

We offer:

  • Preschool Gymnastics (ages 2-5)
  • School Age Recreational Gymnastics (ages 5-10)
  • Teen and Adult Gymnastics (drop-in)
  • Gymnastics Clinics
  • Open Gym Time

Gymnastics Attire: One-piece Gymnastics leotards is recommended. Abdomen must be covered for safety. Shorts or leggings are optional, but must be tight-fitting. *No skirts on leotards please. Shoes, socks and all jewelry must be removed. Long hair must be pulled back as well.

Gymnastics Room Policies:

  • Family members, siblings and friends will be asked to remain on the bleachers or in the hallway during class. No one is allowed on the equipment without an instructor.
  • Make ups for missed classes are not offered due to limited class sizes, and child safety.
  • Children under age 8 must have an adult in the room or in the hallway outside the room during their class time.
  • All participants and visitors must stop at the front desk to check in before and after each class.
  • Please bring your own water bottle to class.

Preschool Gymnastics

High Energy Fun! Our YMCA Preschool Gymnastics Program is for girls and boys ages 2 through preschool age 5. This program helps children develop balance, coordination, body awareness, and motor skills while gaining confidence in their movements. Children will learn valuable skills such as listening to the teacher, following directions, sharing equipment, and taking turns with friends.

Tiny Tumblers for 2 - 3 year old's (with adult helper): In this 45-minute class, an adult is required to actively participate in their child's physical development by assisting them through various obstacles that enhance strength, balance, and coordination on different apparatus. This class focuses on developing essential body awareness, gross motor skills and introducing basic gymnastics skills in a safe and supportive fun environment while learning to follow directions, cooperate with others, and develop their confidence. The class will use of bars, beams, trampolines, and mats to practice jumping, balancing, and rolling while fostering social skills like taking turns and following a circuit.

Preschool Gymnastics for 4 - 5 year old's: This 45-minute class is an independent participation class where students are introduced to basic gymnastics fundamentals on bars, balance beam, trampoline, floor and vault, with the goal of developing body awareness, motor skills, and coordination. Emphasis is on safety and fun. Prerequisites: Ability to follow instructions, interact safely with peers, and stay with the group.

Preschool 2 Gymnastics for 4.5-5 year old's: This gymnastics class is for children who are advanced in their motor development, listening skills, and are ready to advance in their gymnastics skills. Prerequisites: Preschool Gymnastics experience, must be able to do a cartwheel or handstand, front support on the bar, and walk independently on the beam.

Recreational Gymnastics for School Age Students

Our YMCA Youth Gymnastics Program is for kids who are attending elementary school - kindergarten (minimum age 5) to age 10.  It’s an exciting activity-based program where children develop and enhance their balance, strength, flexibility and coordination. Gymnastic skill instruction is provided on the floor, bars, beam, vault and tumble track. *We have separate classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

Beginner Gymnastics (ages 5 and up): A one-hour class for ages 5 and up that will introduce and teach the basics on all events in the recreational program format. Instructors will focus on building self-confidence, strength, flexibility, and balance! 

This is great for first-timers, or experienced kids who need to improve on the basics of gymnastics. This class is also used as a transition class from the preschool program into the school age programs.   

Intermediate Gymnastics (ages 6 and up): This class is the next step for children who have taken beginner gymnastics, are experienced on all of the equipment, and have mastered the beginner class skills. *Instructor recommendation is required for the intermediate class. 

Pre-requisites include forward and backward rolls, a straight arm bridge, a vertical cartwheel, and a handstand. On balance beam: can confidently mount and do all walks, balances, and hops without assistance. On bars: can front support, cast with hips away from the bars, forward roll dismount without help, and has done back hip circles around the bar. 

Advanced Gymnastics (ages 7 and up – instructor recommendation required):  For athletes who have mastered the intermediate skills on floor, balance beam, bars, and tumble track. Gymnasts will continue to work on form and technique, while learning fun and challenging new skills! 

This class is by instructor recommendation. Athletes must be able to do a back walkover on floor, a pullover and back hip circle on bars, and a handstand on the beam. 

Homeschool Gymnastics (ages 5-10): Homeschool Gymnastics classes are a great way to get physical activity time, while meeting other homeschool friends! Students will have fun while learning gymnastics skills and shapes on the different apparatuses. They will also play cooperative games resulting in improved strength, flexibility, coordination and motor control. 

Teen and Adult Gymnastics

Our Teen and Adult Gymnastics Programs are for age 11 and up, and all skill levels are welcome. Come try out the gymnastics equipment, and find a fun way to work on balance, coordination, flexibility, strength and improve overall fitness while learning new skills. All experience levels are welcome. Instruction will be geared towards the individual. Registration for these programs is considered “drop-in” and is priced per class. 

Teen Gymnastics Drop-in (ages 11 and up):  A one-hour class for ages 11 and up. All skill levels welcome, instruction is geared towards the individual.  To make this easier for our teenager’s busy schedules, classes are priced per class. Drop in is great for other sport athletes who want to improve flexibility, balance and fitness levels.

Adult and Teen Drop-in (ages 13 and up): A great way for older teens and adults to try out the equipment in the gym, and enjoy trying some gymnastics skills. Instruction will be geared to the individuals – all experience levels are welcome.

Open Gyms

Children are welcome along with an adult helper to come and enjoy the gymnastics facility! Explore and get some energy out during free play time on most equipment. All children enrolled in this independent play must be supervised by a parent or adult helper during the entire class. 

Gymnastics Clinics

Join us for summer or school vacation fun!  All levels are welcome. We will work on progressive skill building on all of the equipment as well as play games, and have open gym time. *A registration form including emergency contact information will be required before participation. For clinics which are three hours, please bring a nut free snack.

Competitive Gymnastics

The Springettes are a year round team for the skilled athlete looking for a competitive experience. Female gymnasts compete USA Gymnastics routines and follow Junior Olympic rules and regulations against other YMCAs at state, regional and national levels. We emphasize positive coaching, technical skill instruction, goal setting, work ethic and team building.

The Wilton branch of the Saratoga Regional YMCA is now offering Springettes gymnastics team options. 

An active SRY membership is required to participate.
