25 Cancer Survivors Graduate from the Spring Session of the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Program
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Saratoga Regional YMCA is proud to announce the successful completion of the Spring 2025 session of the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program, with 25 cancer survivors graduating after completing the 12-week program. This session marks a historic milestone, as it is the first time the association has been able to offer the program at all of its 6 branches.
Since launching the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program in 2013, the Saratoga Regional YMCA has served 538 cancer survivors, helping individuals reclaim their health, rebuild their strength, and connect with a supportive community after a cancer diagnosis.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free, research-based physical activity and wellness program designed to help adult cancer survivors regain their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Taught by specially trained YMCA instructors, the program focuses on strength training, cardiovascular endurance, and balance, while also providing a supportive environment for survivors to connect and heal together.
The impact of the program extends beyond physical recovery. Many participants, like Tammy Ogsbury, continue to stay involved long after their sessions end. "I'm not happy I got cancer, but I am happy for all the experiences, friendships, and community cancer has brought me through the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program," said Tammy, LIVESTRONG participant and program mentor. Tammy was so moved by her experience that she now mentors new participants and volunteers her time on the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA’s event committee, helping raise funds to keep the program free of charge for future survivors.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Spring 2025 LIVESTRONG at the YMCA graduates for their resilience, strength, and dedication to their healing journey. The Y is honored to walk alongside them and is committed to ensuring that this vital program remains accessible and impactful for many more survivors in the years ahead.
