Spreading Holiday Cheer Through the Annual Giving Tree Program
The Saratoga Regional YMCA (SRYMCA) brought the spirit of the season to life through its beloved Giving Tree program, making a meaningful difference for local families in need.
From November 20 through December 14, each of our six branches displayed Giving Trees adorned with ornaments listing holiday wishlists for local children. This tradition unites the generosity of our members with the joy of giving, and this year was no exception.
Thanks to the incredible support of our community, 72 families—152 children—received gifts to brighten their holidays. Of these, 66 families (137 children) are part of SRYMCA’s financial assistance program, ensuring that children in these households experienced the magic of the season. Every single wishlist was adopted and fulfilled by our amazing members.
In addition, three families were adopted by volunteers from our Branch Impact Committees, who shopped together on December 4 at Kohl’s in Wilton, NY. This effort was made possible by a generous grant from Kohl’s Corporate, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership. SRYMCA also continued its strong collaboration with Franklin Community Center, adopting six families and fulfilling wishlists for 15 children.
Many families supported by the Giving Tree program face financial challenges that make holiday gift-giving difficult. One mom from Glens Falls shared her heartfelt gratitude:
“I’m a single mom to a 5-year-old boy, who I adopted when he was just a baby. I work full time and recently went back to school to build a better future for us, but it’s been hard financially and emotionally. He’s such an amazing kid and I wish I could give him more right now. Receiving support from the Giving Tree has meant so much to both of us. Thank you for helping make our holiday so special!”
The Giving Tree program is a shining example of the YMCA’s commitment to supporting families and spreading joy during the holidays. We extend our sincere thanks to every member, volunteer, and staff member who made this possible. Together, we’re building a stronger, more caring community.
