The Saratoga Regional YMCA is committed to empowering members at every age and stage of life to enjoy greater physical activity, connectivity and productivity. Our Active Older Adult (AOA) programs include fitness classes to accommodate a variety of functional abilities as well as opportunities for socialization.

Outdoor group exercise classes have started at our Battenkill, Saratoga and Wilton branches, with a variety specifically offered for our active older adults. These classes are low impact and great for everyone, including beginners, and those easing back into a routine after a long break.

Your health is our priority. We are following local, state and CDC guidelines to ensure these classes are offered in a safe environment. Added cleaning and disinfecting protocols have been implemented and class size will be limited to ensure proper social distancing is maintained.


An active SRYMCA membership is required to participate in these activities. (All SRY memberships were placed on hold in April and will remain this way until further notice unless you choose to participate in these activities and reactivate your membership.)


Advanced Reservations are required to participate in these activities. In an effort to ensure a safe environment and maintain limited capacity, all outdoor fitness classes require a reservation using our mobile app or our online schedules page. Reservations open 48 hours before the start of each class and will remain open until 30 minutes before class starts or until all spaces are filled. There’s no fee to sign up once you’ve reactivated your membership.

  • Class capacity is limited to up to 35 people, depending on the class
  • Reservations are required for all outdoor fitness classes using the Y Mobile App or our schedule’s web page (no walk-in or on-site reservations at this time)
  • Classes are only offered at the Saratoga Springs branch at this time
  • Classes will take place in one of four zones in the parking lots near the main entrance. Zone locations will be included in the class description when you reserve a spot (zone locations are shown in the diagram above). 
  • Class schedules are subject to change and may be canceled due to poor weather
  • Building access and locker rooms will not be available
  • Members are required to bring their own equipment (yoga mat, water bottle, towel, etc.)
  • Please keep all valuables home or locked in your car while participating
  • Class cancellations will be communicated through our “rained out” text messaging service. These messages are FREE.  CLICK HERE to sign up and be sure to select SS-GROUPEX .

Check In When You Arrive

  • Arrive 15 minutes in advance to check-in
  • Members must sign a one-time membership waiver specific to COVID-19
  • Members must check-in and verify class registration (located outside main building entrance)

Safety and Cleanliness

  • Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes for equipment will be available
  • Face masks must be worn at all times except while exercising
  • Please social distance and keep a safe space between members and staff
  • Staff will disinfect equipment between classes
  • Please exit the exercise area immediately after class ends to eliminate social gatherings 


  • Low Impact Cardio & Strength: This 45 minute low impact class focuses on increasing muscular strength, endurance, and cardio-respiratory health. A chair and resistance band will be provided.  Please remember to bring plenty of water and a towel.  RESERVATION REQUIRED.
  • Chair Yoga: This gentle form of yoga is practiced sitting on a chair or using a chair for support during standing poses. Chair yoga is especially suitable for older adults, people with balance or coordination issues, and those with disabilities. Chair yoga helps increase flexibility, lung capacity, circulation and strength, improves balance, and relieves stress.  Chair is provided.  Please remember to bring plenty of water and a towel. RESERVATION REQUIRED.
  • Zumba Gold: A lower impact version of your favorite Zumba dance moves, designed for beginners and/or active older adults who want to work up a sweat while dancing to their favorite Latin Beats. Bring water and a towel.  RESERVATION REQUIRED.
