Y 160 Time Capsule
Since 1866 our YMCA has been a place where friendships are formed, goals are achieved, and lives are transformed. As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we're creating a 160th Anniversary Time Capsule that captures what it means to be part of our YMCA community in 2026, while also preserving memories that showcase how our Y has grown and evolved throughout the years.
We invite you to help us tell the story of the Y through your experiences, memories, creativity, and participation! The time capsule will be sealed at a ceremony to be held at the Saratoga Springs YMCA on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026 at 10 AM and reopened in 40 years on our 200th anniversary.

The strength of our community comes from people like you, and we'd love to include your Y story in the time capsule. Share a special memory, meaningful experience, milestone, or reason the YMCA is important to you by submitting a story online, or filling out a card at your local branch.
Have you tried a new program, made a new friend, reached an important goal, started your wellness journey, learned to swim, or discovered a new passion? We invite you to share a photo and/or your story.

Important Submission Information:
Please include your name and contact information with your submissions. All photo's must include a written description. Submission deadline is Monday, August 17, 2026. We will not be able to accept items on the day of the sealing ceremony. All submitted items will be reviewed for consideration for inclusion in the time capsule.
Art Contest
Show us what the Y means to you through art! Create a piece of 2-dimensional artwork no bigger than 8.5" x 11" using the following themes as inspiration:
- What does the Y means to you?
- How has the Y has impacted your life?
- A special YMCA memory.
One winning piece from each of the following age groups will be selected to be included in the time capsule: Ages 0–7, Ages 8–13, Ages 14–17, Ages 18+.
Important Art Submission Information:
All art submissions should include the artists name, age category (Ages 0–7, Ages 8–13, Ages 14–17, Ages 18+) and contact information. Please drop artwork off at any of the following YMCA locations: Battenkill, Corinth, Glens Falls, Malta, Saratoga Springs or Wilton, or mail to Saratoga Regional YMCA, Attention Marketing Department, 290 West Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
