EnhanceFitness

Modified Moves, Maximum Benefit

EnhanceFitness is an evidence-based group exercise program that uses simple, easy-to-learn movements that motivate older adults to stay active throughout their lives.

This program is geared toward supporting those who struggle with arthritis, but it is also suitable for any older adult.

The program is facilitated by certified instructors with training in group exercise, arthritis conditions, and the EnhanceFitness program curriculum and is conducted in a small supportive group setting. The instructor will safely lead the class through an hour of dynamic exercises at a pace that’s right for the participants.

Here are some of the changes our participants have noticed:

  • More energy
  • Better balance
  • Increases in upper and lower body strength
  • More flexibility and range of motion
  • Better sleep
  • More feelings of happiness
  • Sense of independence

In addition to the physical benefits, research has shown that among older adults who participate in Enhance®Fitness, health costs were lowered each year by close to $1,000.

Our aim: To help you feel better

Each class session includes cardiovascular, strength training, balance and flexibility exercises and the fostering of strong social relationships between participants. Each participant is encouraged to go at their own pace.

In addition, the supportive network of friends formed in the EnhanceFitness program fosters a strong sense of belongingness and encourages a collective commitment to sustained healthy habits. Individuals in the EnhanceFitness program experience improved physical strength, increased flexibility, better balance, enhanced cardiovascular fitness, and reduced arthritic pain which leads to empowered independent living for people with arthritis.
